About Me

Welcome! My name is Benita, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the San Jose area. I also offer Telehealth services for individuals located throughout California.

Throughout my life, I’ve held a deep personal commitment to turning life’s most painful moments into purposeful ones. This mindset began early on and naturally guided me toward a path of supporting others through some of their darkest seasons—helping them reconnect with hope and move toward healing. I truly believe that each of us has an authentic self, though it can sometimes feel buried under past wounds, limited support, or coping skills we were never taught. As I often say, “Our past informs us about our origins, but it doesn’t have to dictate our future.” With the right tools and a strong, reliable support system, meaningful healing and growth are absolutely possible.

As an immigrant Assyrian woman, I also deeply understand the complexities that come with the immigration experience. I love working with individuals who have walked this path themselves, as well as children of immigrants. Navigating new environments while balancing two worlds can be incredibly challenging. Many children of immigrants feel a strong pressure to succeed, often becoming parentified at a young age—carrying family expectations while their own emotional needs go unseen. They deserve to be acknowledged, supported, and empowered to care for their mental health, not just meet external measures of success.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, reading, and writing. Nature is one of my greatest sources of grounding—whether that’s a walk along the beach or getting lost on a wooded trail. I also place a strong value on my own self-growth and healing, continuing my personal therapy and seeking support through life’s transitions. I believe that taking care of myself allows me to show up more fully—not only for my own life, but for the clients I have the privilege of working with.
